Description
This is the sixty-seventh destination in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red-Light District." This piece is set at Dortmund's Linienstraße.

The main character in this piece is a 36-year old ornithologist. This esteemed individual had presented an award-winning thesis to experts that featured unique eating patterns of extinct birds, notably that of the dodo bird and the Great Auk. One of those experts was a native of Dortmund and had commissioned the main character to achieve something unprecedented. That task involved the first "genetically-immaculate and immortal" bird that possessed the grace of a dove, the tenacity of a cormorant, and the spirit of phoenix.

The main character and the expert went to Dortmund, where the journey began with a canoe ride along the Emscher River and the Hengsteysee Reservoir. Stops at both the Reinholdikirche and the Marienkirche proved the main character inspiration, along with a more peculiar observation involving the expert's group of ravenous skinny-dippers at Lake Phoenix. For nine days, both individuals began perfecting the new creatures. Once completed, both individuals rushed feverishly to Wesatfalenstadion ahead of Borussia Dortmund's Champions League play-off qualifier with their 256 prototype birds for festivities. Fans praised these elegant and newly-created creatures during the celebrations, with one even predicting the birds to become a cult phenomenon.

Following the game, the expert and the main character departed, with the latter heading to a posh apartment. Before leaving for a power walk, the main character received two of the birds as a gift from the expert – Yo and Shch, both named after letters from the Russian alphabet. While approaching Linienstraße, the main character met another individual. That individual was an avid bird watcher and now helps local authorities through the Dortmund Midnight Mission. However, the individual has been having difficulties seeking a symbol to help combat illegal activities in the area. Many workers had been overburdened and exhausted through some despicable actions. So the main character offered both birds as a gift. While there, both the main character and the individual opted to spend time assisting with some other individuals struggling with life issues at a nearby safe house.

This piece had a format of 4AABBCC4A8. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "London Sketchbook" was the inspiration for this melody. Note that the A section featured is a 24-bar section.
