Description
This is the sixty-first destination in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red-Light District." This piece is set at Essen’s Stahlstraße.

The main character in this piece is a 28-year old fishmonger. This person has been going through topsy-turvy moments in which the individual has wealthy means after having the biggest catches of fish at his employment for the previous 16 months, only for a toxic sewerage leak near the lake to derail his employment. With the location closed, the main character felt bored and needed to unwind desperately.

So the main character opted to visit Germany and visit places that would normally be outside the individual’s comfort zone. That excursion included stops at Zeche Zollverein, the Handelshof Hotel, Messe Essen and even the Deutsche Bank branch at the city’s financial district.

The main character sought more adventure and by chance happened to hear about fishing expo held inside Stadion Essen, which included a temporary aquarium that was the largest in Europe at the time. The individual decided to head over to the stadium, where it was a sellout crowd in attendance. The activities featured in the exposition included people having the chance to swim with dolphins and krill.

Following a numbness of fingers, the main character decided to partake on a power walk toward Stahlstraße. Upon arrival, the main character managed to see a raucous party of debauchery and drunkenness that was so repulsive the individual nearly dashed away quickly. That was until a flaxen-hair individual stopped the main character. This individual was a chaste person known to the locals along Stahlstraße and often respected. The individual assured the main character that the behavior was atypical of the area as the rowdy partygoers were merely tourists seeking chaos and anarchy. As a result, both people spent the evening contemplating about the future.

This piece had a format of 4AA4BBCC8AA4. The theme from Rayman's "Band Land" and James Scott's "Princess Rag" were the basis for this piece. Note that the C-section is a 24-bar section.
