Description
This is part of the first collection of pieces that would become known to be the "Anarchist Rhapsodies," a collection of 12 pieces that share a common melody and are very similar to each other. What makes this collection different is that each of the 12 pieces are written in a different key signature.
At the time I wrote this piece in 2006, I always believed that key signatures can set the mood for any piece. For f-sharp minor, I have always believed that f-sharp minor, while can have solemn overtones, is perhaps the most cheerful and optimistice of the 12 minor scales. F-sharp minor can empower an individual with dreams and visions. More information to come late.
More importantly, I wanted to write a collection of melodies for which two main themes were the basis for this collection of pieces: one of the main themes from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Philip Glass's "Einstein on the Beach." There is a subtle influence of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" early on, as well as two relatively little-known Russian composers in Genrikh Pachulski and Anatoly Lyadov. Listening to its repeating pattern, I wanted to emulate this feat, while also having influences from other musicians who are more notable for their methods of piano studying, especially Czerny and Schaum.
This piece is dedicated to our children of this generation and every generation afterward.
