Dordrecht: Ragtime for the Desperate Soul
This is the fifty-fourth destination in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red Light District." This piece is set at Dordrecht's Club Happy Gentlemen.
The main character in this piece is a 29-year old struggling local restaurant owner who inherited a business following the death of a related business mentor. This restaurant owner became burned out in a matter of weeks due to draining revenues and other lost sales that stemmed from the character's excessively nice personality and depsrate gimmicks to draw in business. Having lost interest in most things, the main character needed to get out of the business strolled and paused at key places, including the Statue of Johan and Cornelis de Witt, the windmill Kyck over den Dyck and the Mint of Holland. draw upon the inspiration of the city. The main character even got to gaze at the concession stands inside Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion during an Eredivise playoff match to see how synchronized and systemtic the workers take pride in their job.
After leaving the stadium, the main character decided to enjoy a power walk en route to Club Happy Gentlemen. It was there that this main character decided to promote his business in the cheapest way possible. That was until the main character met a busy female worker who was once a patron of the restaurant the main character owns but left due to questionable practices. The female worker came to the main character and explained what was really wrong with the business and even offered sound advice. The main character decided instantly not only to take her advice but also bring her as a new business partner. The two people enjoyed coffee inside the club.
