Description
This is the fortieth place in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red Light District." This piece is set at Bielefeld’s Eckendorferstraße.

The main character in this piece is a 32-year old tourism etiquette expert. Bielefeld is the 144th city the main character has visited on assignment in the last four years. During this visit, the main character was busy teaching etiquette to all groups of people and animals: from young children on how to respect architecture at Sparrenburg Castle to the elderly on how to appreciate horticulture at Botanisher Garten Bielefeld. The main character even taught citizens how to properly respond to people looking to debunk the so-called “Bielefeld Conspiracy.”

The main character also knew how to enjoy life as the person attended a relegation-promotion playoff at Schüco Arena during a heavy rainstorm. The main character was still busy teach etiquette, even advising sausage and beer connoisseur on how to properly eat and drink their favorite food and beverages. So after a busy series of day teaching etiquette, the main character needed to unwind in any way possible and decided to take multiple modes of transportation around town. Most places appealed to the main character, but one street stood out: Eckendorferstraße.

It was there where the main character had met a special woman whom he met earlier during a seminar about the “Bielefeld Conspiracy.” This was a woman of holy faith, but also one of great spontaneity and voluptuousness and wanted a wild night. However, the main character, also of holy faith, wanted not only to politely decline the request for love-making, but wanted to give an important first impression on the woman. Much to the main character’s surprise, the woman was rather pleased with the main character’s decision as both people embarked on a romantic dance at Eckendorferstraße that lasted until the following sunrise.

This piece has a format of 4AABBACADD. Marty Haugen’s “Gather Us In” and the German Hymn “Lasst uns Erfreuen Herzlich Sehr” were the basis for this piece. In addition, the A section of the piece is a 24-bar section.
