Description
This is the thirty-ninth place in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red Light District." This piece is set at Le Havre’s Rue Laperouse.

The main character in this piece is a 28-year old chemist and aspiring adult film star. This person was looking to get away from work after causing a chain reaction by improperly mixing potassium chloride and ammonia during an experiment in a laboratory. So, the main character decided to embark on a journey to Normandy and enjoy Le Havre. During his 25 days in Le Havre, the main character did many things, ranging from train hopping at Gare du Havre to sailing at Port Vauban. The main character even took part in a chemistry exposition held at the University of Le Havre.

The main character also enjoys sports on a frequent basis, and so capitalized on sporting events held at both Stade Oceane and Stade Jules Deschaseaux, the latter watching a women’s World Cup qualifier in which, according to multiple sources, was the only man in the entire stadium. There were a group of 16 women, residing at Rue Laperouse, who attended the match that recognized the main character through amateur videos, and wanted a man in their area for the night.

So, with class and dignity, the 16 women escorted the main character through a rigorous power walk toward Rue Laperouse. When all the people arrived, the main character was awestruck at what not only became of the place, but of his new acquaintances. The group of 16 women were rather shy and not quite spontaneous and the main character had his work cut out. So, with poetry, music and a little ingenuity, the main character embarked on a brazen but necessary quest to appease the women and reveal more of their heavenly bodies without desecration of dignity. Now, the 16 women, whom other residents referred as the most boring people in Le Havre, were comfortable in sarongs and lingerie, and the main character even got requests for starring in adult films. However, the main character, wanted to appreciate the moment, decides a night hot bath with the women sufficed.

This piece has a format of 4AABBCC4DD. Sergei Taneyev’s “Prelude and Fugue in G-sharp minor” and Scott Joplin’s “The Ragtime Dance” were the basis for this piece. In addition, the third section of the piece is a 24-bar section and is heavily based on Taneyev.
