Description
This melody is the tenth destination in the collection of the series "Ragtime at the Red-Light District." This rag occurs at Deventer's Bokkingshang.

The tourist in this piece is a 29-year-old river-loving musician whose favorite form of music is the rondo. For two days, the tourist was rowing along the river IJssel to come up with another rondo on his journey. But the tourist was somehow struggling to find a tune.

That was until he met a woman, whom the tourist first got acquainted during an exhibition match at Adelaarshorst. This woman happens to be a resident of Deventer who happens to love classical music, particularly that of the barcarolle, as she has often dreamed of visiting Italy one day.

When dusk changed to evening on the fourth day of his vacation, the tourist rushed toward the red light district to play his new tune, unaware at first that the woman also works at the red light district.

Scott Joplin's "Sunflower Slow Drag" and the "Silver Swan Rag" were the basis for this piece. In addition, Jacques Offenbach's Barcarolle from the "Tales of Hoffman" has influence during the A strains of the melody, which is written in the format 4AABBA8CC4AA.
